The #1 Thing I’ve Learned as a Financial Coach
It has been 7 years but it feels like a lifetime that I embarked on this journey to help people reach their financial goals. It was a shot in the dark and I had no idea where and how to start. It took time to get things set up and although I know money management, I was surprised at the things I have learned. Things that have helped me become a better financial coach. Here is what I’ve learned about personal money management.
It is 70% mental and emotional.
Parents are the largest influencers on a person’s relationship with money.
You can review a person’s spending and know what is important to them.
Marketers know us better than we know ourselves and their influence is very powerful.
You walk differently when you have less debt.
A budget is without a doubt the number one tool used to reach financial success.
The biggest thing I’ve learned, however, is that reaching your financial goals is only a part of the journey. I have had so many clients who, once they had accomplished what we set out to accomplish, did not know what to do next. All of their lives they have held a financial stance and it is foreign to them to not be there any longer. This is why pursuing a life of purpose is so important. Pursuing a life of purpose is the #1 thing I have learned in my work as a Financial Coach and I pass it on to you. Find purpose. Find things you are passionate about. Find reasons to be grateful and steer away from negative talk and negative people.
Here's wishing you a year full of beauty and purpose.
